Obituary of Douglas E Spaull

Spaull, Douglas E. April 16,1925-April 2, 2016 D. E. SPAULL, OPTOMETRIST Douglas Ernest Spaull, 90, of Arnprior, passed away on April 2, 2016 at the Civic Hospital in Ottawa with his family by his side. Doug was born in Toronto to Vaughan and Hattie Spaull on April 16, 1925. He served his country in the Second World War as a signaler with the Cameron Highlanders of the Occupation Army. When he returned home he continued his education and graduated in optometry in 1949. He was the beloved husband of the late Carol (Blakey) for almost 60 years. Dear father of Stephen (Mary Lou Marcellus) and Marianne Spaull. Cherished grandfather of Brodie (Ashley Wilson) and Graham (Alex Leslie). Proud great-grandfather of Makaila. Predeceased by his son David and his sister Betty (late George Craig). Survived by his sisters Doreen Bullied (late Jack Spencley) and Irene Watt (late Owen Watt). Doug spent 2 years on the Arnprior Town Council, joined the Lions Club and the Legion. He also spent 12 years on the Board of the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital. He was a longtime member of the Arnprior Community Choir. Visitations at the Boyce Funeral Home, 138 Daniel Street N., Arnprior Saturday April 9, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and after 1:00 p.m. Sunday. Funeral Service will be conducted Sunday April 10, 2016 in the Boyce Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Dr. Leo Hughes officiating. In lieu of flowers a donation to the “Partners in Caring” Foundation of the Arnprior Hospital, the Alzheimer Society, or the charity of your choice would be much appreciated.
