Passed away peacefully with the love of family by her side at the Renfrew Victoria Hospital, Monday evening, September 3, 2018. Verda Desarmia of Arnprior, Ontario in her 90th year. Beloved wife of 21 years to the late Hugh Desarmia. (1970). Loving mother of Deborah Olmstead (Terence) of Arnprior. Most proud and cherished grandmother of Shannon Mooney (Dallas) of Renfrew and Derek Olmstead of Calgary.  Proud great-grandmother of Holly and Carly Mooney. Dear sister of Adele Tourangeau (Gib) of Arnprior. Predeceased by parents Leslie and Esther (Woermke) Scheel and siblings; Garnet Scheel (late Margaret), Milton Scheel (late Lillian), Ada Lapierre (late Tony), Marlyn Green (late Gerry), Eunice Gardiner (late Dave) and Dorian Fairfield (late Buck). Survived by many nieces and nephews as well as sisters-in-law Fay Kerr (Clayton) of Ottawa and Sylvia Desarmia (late Mel) of Arnprior.  Lovingly remembered by lifelong friend Marion Ray of Arnprior.  A truly remarkable woman, mother, and grandmother, sister and friend, Verda lived her life with a strong faith and unwavering love of God. She was one of the “Golden Girls”, who cared and loved her circle of family and friends deeply. A special thank you to Dr. Schriver for her excellent support and care. The family also wish to extend their gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Groves Park Lodge for their heartfelt compassionate care and friendship. Arrangements by the Boyce Funeral Home Ltd., 138 Daniel Street North, Arnprior. A Memorial Service will take place at the First Baptist Church, Arnprior on Monday, September 10, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Private family interment Arnprior Albert Street Cemetery. In memory of Verda, a donation to the First Baptist Church, Arnprior or the Arnprior-Braeside-McNab Seniors at Home Program would be appreciated.
