We were sorry to read of Catherine's passing. She was a lovely woman and a real lady. I remember visiting with her and Archie at my parents 50th wedding anniversary. She was so kind and patient. You could sense the powerful, unconditional love in their marriage. She will be truly missed. All our condolences, Heather Janet MacNeill and family

We will miss Catherine when we again are allowed to visit at the Villa. She always came out when we played music and sat right in the front. Then we would visit afterwards.

We have wonderful memories of Catherine and Archie. They were the ultimate hosts, always making everyone feel so welcome. She was a great influence on me as a new member of our Mission Circle and helped to make our programmes so interesting and fun.
We remember all the “special times” we had at their big Anniversary parties, where Catherine had everything down to the smallest detail taken care of.
She was a special caring and loving person and we feel so thankful for our years of friendship.
Thinking of all her family at this time.

I remember meeting Catherine for the 1st time at First Baptist Church as a young wife and mother. Catherine (and Archie) took a keen interest in our young family. Her kind words of encouragement, soft moments of gentle wisdom, compassionate prayers and joyful sense of humor has been a great influence and blessing over the years. In recent years, I became a PSW and had the pleasure of re-connecting with her at Villa. Although, I did not provide care for her, we had some wonderful visits. She left a lasting friendship that I will always treasure. "Well done good and faithful servant". The angels are rejoicing over You!

Catherine (Kay) and I worked together at the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., in Ottawa. We met on October 18, 1943, and became close friends to-date. She was my "big sister" in many ways: a bridesmaid to each other on wedding days; and, then my maid-of-honour a few years ago. I 'phoned her each Sunday night and many times throughout the week, when we enjoyed discussing previous and current events. Yes, we had many laughs together. You will be sadly missed my "big sister, Kay." .

I first met Catherine in 2012 through the CNIB Vision Loss group. She was an enthusiastic supporter of our program and always took an interest in all the latest available technologies and advances for vision loss. Catherine was a woman of deep faith, always gracious and polite. She had a wonderful sense of humour and delighted us with many stories of her life. Her proudest moment was the publishing of the Slater Family History which she had spent so many hours researching. She will be greatly missed by all of the members of our group. A donation in her memory has been sent to the CNIB. Pat Weir, CNIB Volunteer.

I met Catherine in March 2019. As part of the St John Ambulance Therapy dog program, Rudy was a regular visitor to Catherine's room at the Villa. It was obvious Catherine was an animal lover with her vast collection of dogs and cats. Despite this competition Rudy won over her heart. Being legally blind did not dampen Catherine's enthusiasm for life. Genealogy and current events were our favourite topics of conversation. As we got too involved in conversation Rudy would let Catherine know she was negligent in her attentions to him! Both Rudy and I will miss this special lady. My condolences to the extended Slater and Cameron families.
