My earliest memory of my big brother was walking down our road as a small child and him squeezing my hand much to my delight. However as a baby I cried so much after a traumatic birth that my father was driven to suggest throwing me out the window and it was Tony walking me round the garden that saved the day. At least that’s how the family story went!
I always wanted to go everywhere with him even after he met Mary. They were going swimming in the Thames and I was ready to go with them but Mum said no they need to be on their own, I really did not understand why not at the time.
I adored my brother and looked forward very to his returning home. I kept a tiny framed photo of him in his Army jungle kit doing his National Service in Kula Lumpa ( not sure about the spelling)
He and Mary did so well in Canada despite being very homesick at the beginnings as he confessed much later. He and Mary were so welcoming on my visits, looking after Colin and Ruth as small children on one trip and Tony teaching me to water ski on another. Taking me on many exciting long explorations of the wilder parts of Canada and there were visits to Galetta which in the early days seemed a rural paradise. I have such happy memories.
I could go on about Tony’s warmth and humour but mostly I remember his laugh. I miss him.
Bernice Holmes his little sister.

Thank you so much for those beautiful memories of our Dad, your brother. I always remember a photo of my Dad sitting on my mother's dresser of him and his days in Malaysia, he didn't have on his army fatigue but I knew that is was from his time there. He always looked forward to and enjoyed your visits to Canada.
We are all going to miss him so much.

Tony and Mary were wonderful neighbors to have in Galetta. Tony's carpentry skills were put to good use in my home and he always had a few tricks up his sleeve to make the project even more special. He was always available to lend a helping hand. He will be missed.
