Graham MacLachlan posted a condolence

I was in Ottawa on business in 2014, I rented a car drove to Arnprior’s Archive, then onto the White Lake General Store. As I was just getting out of my car, a lady was approaching and it was Fern Stewart. I asked her, “excuse me, you wouldn’t be able to tell me where the cemetery was”, and she replied “well yes its just up the road”. I went onto explain, “I am here doing a little family geology”, she asked “what family”, and I said “MacLachlan”, she laughed and said, “well the cemetery is on McLachlan Road”. “Why don’t you come over to my house and I will show you a few of the family trees I’ve done”. Invitation accepted and was sitting at her kitchen table within about 7 minutes. Fern was a wonderful lady and helped me immensely with an understanding of the area. She was a good person, with a good heart. We kept in touch and I gave her a thank-you in my book, entitled J.P. Bickell The Life, the Leafs and the Legacy circa 2017. Sincerely, Graham MacLachlan Calgary, AB.

Fern worked with my Dad, Gerry Rogers. My parents (Kay & Gerry) always said how brilliant she was. I always smile when I drive through White Lake, which I do every summer. I remember going to Fern and Eddie’s house as a kid with my parents. It was so fun. Wasn’t there a funny story that by marrying Eddie, she was also an aunt (by marriage) to one of her own relatives? I loved this woman. I am sorry to read this. My sympathy to all of her family, and especially Eddie. Jane (Rogers) Tunney in NB.

Sincere condolences at your great loss.
As we get older, we appreciate the memories,
The laughter and fun we shared,
Take heart that she loved so long and so well
Just as her friends will remember her in their hearts.
The tears will fall,
But remember the love you shared...
God's Peace to all of you
Love Diane

Dearest Fern
The last time I saw you, you were laughing at the teasing we shared.
That is how I will remember you,
Full of sadness and love for your two girls,
Full of tears and laughter as we shared our feelings,
Lots of the old days to reminisce,
I have missed you for a long time,
But I still have great memories of you
That will remain in my heart forever.
Rest in peace, Cuz.
God will appreciate a Laughing Angel!!
Love you forever,

So very sorry for your loss. Fern will always be remembered by us as a Firecracker! She had that “wit” of that generation. She was an organizer and loved to create something of enjoyment for someone else, as we have all seen in her archived memories of family.
Thinking of you all as you say good bye
