Isobel was a good family friend that will be dearly missed by us.
I caught my first fish at Isobel and Jim’s cottage, in the late 60’s. It was during one of our many memorable family trips to the Munro cottage. I was with my Dad (Peter Sr.) and Don, in Don’s aluminum Springbok. While I didn’t much enjoy catching the fish ….the time on the water with my Dad, the gutting and cooking of the fish, playing horseshoes at the beach, roasting smores, and being lifted in to the car half asleep at the end of the day, was a loving and memorable experience.
30 years later, when travelling through Ontario with my family, I took a detour to visit Isobel at the cottage. My wife (Cathy) and our three boys (Braydon, Devin, and Liam) all met Isobel for the first time – and we were welcomed with big Isobel bear hugs, as if we were returning home.
Later that same day my three sons caught their first fish with Peter Boyce at the helm of the Spingbok. Peter made sure our youngest, Liam, caught the biggest fish that day, and I, in turn, carried Liam to the car when it was our time to go.
Thank you for the family memories, Isobel.

Condolences from the Dowd Families of Antrim & Kinburn. Our parents provided many warm memories of "play by play" curling event details for the ladies bonspiels..... Knowing Isobel's Rock has landed on the button, rest in peace.

It seems impossible to think Isobel is gone. She has always been larger than life with humour, enthusiasm and the ability to get anything done! And of course, the larger than life thing that was undeniable was that heart of hers. She was one of my mom's most treasured friends. I have many memories of holidays ski-dooing at Bark lake, fish, feasts, firewood to chop and lots of cards, Spite and Malice games and fun and laughter. I am sure now that she's arrived she's informed St. Peter about the next bonspiel. And that Vyvienne, Geraldine, Isobel and my dad will be getting out the heavenly curling rocks and brooms! Steven, my condolences to you and yours. So good to talk this evening. May sweet memories bring some comfort today through the service and in the years ahead.

Dear Steve and Family,
We were saddened to learn of Isobel's passing.
Please know, that we the members of the Arnprior Curling Club, fondly remember Isobel for her generosity and active support of our curling programs. We were particularly fortunate to celebrate with Isobel, your family and her long time friends. Her storied curling accomplishments and her birthday made for a joyous occasion! Over the seasons, Isobel was a welcomed sight at our celebrations and bonspiels.
We plan to continue to honour Isobel's memory by hosting a bonspiel in her name. She was a true friend of our Club.
We hope that we may meet again next season to reminisce about Isobel's wonderful life.
Kindest regards,
Mike Reid

My deepest condolences on the loss of Isobel. She was such a vibrant person! Ron had such respect and admiration for her, both personally and professionally as they worked together many years at the Arnprior Hospital. I always enjoyed reading in the newspaper about her many curling events. How she loved that sport! She was a great coach when the hospital would have curling matches occasionally as a social event! A lovely lady who will be missed! RIP. Isobel.
Most sincerely,
Lee Kedrosky

As I sit here trying to think of a way to sum things up about Isobel to tell of her highly respected place in everything she was involved with I realize there is not enough space to convey these sentiments.
She was a fixture in our town, on our street and in the lives of all her neighbours, colleagues, friends and all those who came to know her.
The caring involvement shown in our town to her and Jim sitting out on the lawn to enjoy a beautiful summer evening with neighbours ….These memories are with us forever.
The recollections are many as Isobel excelled in life and in our hearts.
She will be greatly missed !!!

My very first nursing job was at Arnprior Hospital under Isobel as the Director of Nursing. She not only taught a number of us new grads a lot about nursing, she also taught me a lot about curling. Although I have been away from Arnprior for almost 50 years, I have such good memories of working there and the many staff parties and curling parties. RIP Isobel and my sincere condolences to all of her family and friends.
