To Jack’s Family
Our sincerest condolences from one Lougheed Family to another. My father (Ray Lougheed) was Jack’s 2nd cousin who farmed on the original Lougheed homestead (settled by Jack’s Great-Grandfather Thomas Lougheed) in Innisfil Township. My wife and I had the opportunity to visit and meet your parents in 2018 while we were in Ottawa. We spent a fabulous afternoon talking with Jack about family, history and many other things. It was a great learning experience for both of us. Such an eventful life of service! Jack told us how much he enjoyed his visits as a child with my grandparents, my father and his brothers at the farm in Holly. Jack & Mary were so faithful in corresponding with my mother (now 100 years old) after my father passed away in 1972. We are hoping to make it to the celebration of life on July 8th to honour a Lougheed family treasure!
Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time!

Early in the 1990s Susan and I were invited to a service at Jack and Mary's church. After the service, Mary invited about 5 or 6 of us newcomers to their home for a light lunch. It was springtime and their flower gardens were beautiful and the ambiance was divine. Thereafter, whenever we enjoyed Mary's hospitality or Jack's wisdom, I always felt I was in a place closer to Home.
Love you Jack, Mike.

As Jack's youngest brother, Jack took a proprietary interest in me and invested his own money to see that I got into McMaster and then University of Toronto. He encouraged my activities like university hockey and came to my games.
Our families visited back and forth between Ontario and B.C. and I enjoyed many stimulating conversations with him over politics, world affairs and books of all description..
I will miss this fine man in my life, who was a loveable presence.

Jack has always been the person I looked up to , admired, and was a true example of how wonderful the world can be. He always accepted people as they were and brought out the best in everyone. Jack was simply an amazing man that created so many memories which will stay with my family forever.
Amongst being Mary’s true love , a Reverend , neighbour, local historian, and a healer with words .. he was a special friend that my family and I will always cherish.
I am so sorry for your loss.

I'm sorry to learn of Jack's death. My family has a cottage on Kedey Island, Fitzroy Harbour, and we spend summer holidays there. I used to visit the Lougheeds for long conversations with Jack. Mary would make us tea, and give us a sandwich or piece of cake. We were devastated when Jack lost his Mary, and somewhat later I lost the Light of My Life, Phyl. I won't go to the cottage this year. Our Grandaughter Madeline will get married here in late July. But she and her husband Mark will have their Honeymoon at the cottage. Phyl grew up in Ottawa, and the cottage on Kedey Island was her Paradise. Seems to be Madeline's too. I send deep condolences to the Lougheed family. Jack is now with Mary. I look forward to joining Phyl. We long to be with our soulmates. Gordon Freeman, Edmonton, AB.

I have the most wonderful pictures and memories of Jack. On May 7th, 1988 he performed our wedding ceremony at Almonte United Church. Sunday would have been our 35th wedding anniversary. He was such a quiet, no nonsense man with a huge heart, a calming demeanour and a beautiful smile. My condolences to all his family. Debbie

Jack was a special person to me. Always had a kind word and was eager as to how I was doing. I remember him speaking to me after services where I had been the preacher and he always had something to tell me about the message - a true gentleman and scholar. He came to see us at St. Andrew's Presbyterian in Kilmaurs after Mary passed and I was always honoured, and a little nervous, to have him in my congregation. Godspeed Jack - I am certain the Lord has said, "well done, good and faithful servant." Peace always. Pastor Chris Brydges

My sincerest condolences to all of Jack's family. He was my mentor when I went through confirmation, and it was always a pleasure to connect with him at each service throughout the years. He was a wonderful, intelligent, well spoken soul and I cannot express how much his wisdom and dedicated time meant to me as a young man. He embodied all the best qualities of the church community.
