Some of the things I’ve learned about my friend Bev
Bev
- was born in Peterborough
- had her first health challenge as a young child, tuberculosis
- spent hours alone, away from others to recuperate at home
- met a man from Welland who took her fancy
- saw him finish his degree, had a son and a daughter
- travelled to Europe with two small tykes
- settled in Sorel-Tracy, Quebec upon her return
- many happy memories there
- some years later followed her man to Arnprior
- quickly became an Anglican Church volunteer extraordinaire
- had a houseful of teenagers around the pool
- kept them fed with cookies and treats
- developed a passion for the thrill of downhill skiing
- the hill at Calabogie was the favoured place
- teaching the young ones to fly safely down the hill
- more health challenges came along, broken bones, cancer, diabetes, hearing loss, sight loss, dialysis
-these things were taken in stride
- speaking her mind honestly when the situation required
- catching others off guard
- wishing they could be like her
- enjoyed her time working at the Arnprior hospital
- always thinking of others
- stuck by her man, through ups and downs
- my friend Bev
- was brave
- loved fiercely
- was a fighter
- was funny
- was cheeky at times
- wanted the best for everyone
-Bev was a good friend
We will all miss her spirit in our lives
Rest in Peace, my friend.
by Sylvia Patterson, Bev’s neighbour

Dear Al, Allison and Reed.. I am so sorry to learn of Bev’s passing. And so sad that I missed the opportunities to visit her.
Tomorrow always seems like the time to do these things, and suddenly there are no more tomorrows. I will have a hard time forgiving myself for that. My heart goes out to all of you. I loved that lady, for sure that mould was broken after she was made.
Hugs to all of you. Maude

Al, Reid and Allison,
Sending deepest condolences at this difficult time.
I have very fond memories of visiting with Bev over the years whenever we would be in Arnprior; whether taking the kids for a swim when they were little, a quick hello and a chat over the fence, or enjoying a glass of wine at my parents house, talking with Bev was always a highlight.
May your happy memories and knowing how much she meant to so many people bring you all comfort.
