Obituary of John McDermott

June 12, 1946 – January 19, 2024

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of John McDermott on Friday, January 19, 2024, at his residence at the age of 77. John, a retired police officer, dedicated his career to public service, having served one year with the Renfrew Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) and six years with the Arnprior Police Force. Beloved husband of Trudy McDermott (nee Tait) and dear brother of Don (Susan) of Bancroft, ON and Bill (Marg) of St. George, ON. Son of the late James and Frances (Turner) McDermott. During his retirement, John sought refuge in his workshop, where his fondness for tinkering and creative endeavors evolved into a profound enthusiasm for real estate. Possessing a unique talent for acquiring homes, he skillfully breathed new life into each property, unlocking its full potential with an unwavering passion and expertise. His friendly presence will be profoundly missed by the lunch gang, a circle of friends close to his heart. John’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Boyce Funeral Home Ltd., 138 Daniel Street N., Arnprior. To honor John's memory, a donation may be made to the Arnprior and District Humane Society.
