Doris was a wonderful friend. She was kind, wise, and funny. Every year Doris would show up at my door with a jar of choke cherry jelly because she knew it was my favorite.
During the ice storm, when we were without power for two weeks, Doris cooked us not only delicious meals and homemade buns, but a plate of cookies so my girls would have dessert.
Whenever my girls were sick, and eventually my grandchildren, I would call Doris. Doris always knew what to do.
I will miss her music, her advice and her hugs.

Growing up in the White Lake church meant that I had a lot of "grandmas" and "grandpas" in my life - and Doris was a special one. There was nothing better than a homemade bun in Doris' farmhouse kitchen.
I was honored to have Doris play the organ as I walked down the aisle at my wedding, grateful for all of the advice she gave me about my kids whenever they were sick, and thankful that she was an irreplaceable friend to my mom for all those years.
I will miss her love, wisdom and grit.

In 1995, my husband, young daughter and I moved to White Lake, Ontario, where my husband began the job of pastoring a three-point pastoral charge. Morris and Doris Stewart became very dear friends and mentors. As our family grew, I greatly appreciated the support and encouragement that Doris gave me. One day, not long after the birth of one of our daughters, Doris came by the manse on her way to choir practice. I was doing the dishes, surrounded by my little ones. Doris took the tea towel and dried the rest of the dishes for me, before going to her practice. She had a heart for service. When I found out that she had passed away, I told all of my children. Our youngest, Susanna, said she remembered sitting outside with Doris and me at their cottage and listening to the loons. Doris was wise, intelligent, compassionate, and full of love for God. She is one of my heroes. I will miss her very much. All our deepest sympathy, love, and prayers to her beautiful family.

Our condolences to the Stewart family - During the summer when staying with Aunt Luella & Uncle Tommy , Doris knew I was thinking about being a nurse so she let Dorothy & I wash her hair as if she were the patient . We also loved going out with Morris to "herd" the cattle with the VW ! My favourite request for her to play on the piano was " Mockingbird Hill " . Lots of fun times in White lake - Cousin Carole & Ron Armstrong - Perth

So very sorry to hear of Doris’ passing. So many special memories that we shared with Doris and Morris. Trips to the cottage, music, choir and church outings. The little house - and later the move to the big White House - was always filled with happy get togethers and wonderful meals and treats.
Thinking of you all in the days ahead. With love…
