Obituary of Roland "Rollie" Kewley
Roland James “Rollie” Kewley
August 22, 1938 – June 16, 2024
(of Braeside, Ontario)
(Retired-Gillies Bros.)
It is with heartfelt sadness that we share the passing of Rollie, who left us peacefully on the morning of Sunday June 16, 2024, at the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital at the age of 85.
Beloved husband of 57 years to Marilyn (Ferguson) Kewley. Proud father of Craig Kewley (Krysteen) of Alberta. Cherished grandfather of Cora and Lochlan. Dear brother of Eileen Nicholas (Wilfred) of Arnprior and brother-in-law to Phyllis Fraser (Barrie Salter) of Huntsville. Predeceased by his brothers Cyril Proulx (late Kaye), Joseph Proulx (late Jean), Charlie Proulx (late Mary), and Bobby Proulx (Meda), as well as his sister Audrey Murphy (late David) and nephews Danny Proulx and Greg Proulx. Rollie will be fondly remembered by his nephews Morley, Garth, Blythe, Derek, Tracey and Dwayne and nieces Cheryl, Stacey, Pam and Lylas. Son of the late Robert “Bob” and Florence (Reeder) Kewley.
Rollie spent 38 years working for Gillies Bros., later known as Tembec, as a dedicated saw filler/fitter, or as he liked to say, "Saw Doctor." After retiring, he found joy working at the golf course and indulged in his passion for lawn maintenance as a self-proclaimed “grass nut.” Rollie was an avid outdoorsman and was known for his love for RC racing, archery, boating, snowmobiling, duck hunting, and spending time at the shooting range.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Arnprior Hospital, including Dr. Cremer, Dr. Fannon, Dr. Greenough, and nurses Natalie, Lily, Jessica, and Miriam, for their compassionate care of Rollie.
Arrangements for Rollie have been entrusted to Boyce Funeral Home Ltd., 138 Daniel Street N., Arnprior. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. in the Boyce Chapel. Interment will follow at Sand Point Public Cemetery. Reception to follow at the Boyce Reception Centre.
In memory of Rollie, donations may be made to the Arnprior-Braeside-McNab Seniors at Home Program Inc.
