Obituary of Mark Rathwell

It is with profound sadness that we announce Mark’s passing in Toronto on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at the age of 45 ending a difficult battle with cancer which he faced with incredible courage and dignity.  He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Huijing (Winnie) Xu and her mom May, his loving mother Debbie Wallace (Paul Gecius).  Mark was a cherished grandson of Ron and Eleanor Wallace of Galetta, ON.  He will be missed by his uncles Barry (Jan), Brian (Cathy), and Rob (Gisele) Wallace, his newly united siblings Jenifer, Paul (Emily), Stephanie Korolew and their families, as well as his cousins and friends (especially, Mike and Pat) whom he adored.  We are so grateful for the outpouring of support Mark received throughout this difficult journey.  It made everything so much more bearable.  At Mark’s request, he will be brought home to the Ottawa Valley for a Celebration of Life to be held at the Galetta Community Centre, 119 Darwin Street, off the Galetta Side Road in Ottawa’s very west end on the afternoon of Saturday August 10^th, 2019 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.   In memory of Mark, a donation to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
