Bryan Carroll was the Best Man at our wedding --St Andrews Church. Ottawa -July 3,1971 .
Bryan's duties included :-
-Being the time Enforcer
- Standing at the altar with the Groom
-Keep the rings safe
- Being the first on the dance floor
Brian had challenges which included::
-The Bride was 20 minutes late due to transportation directions.
- The elderly Minister replacing Rev. Currie (vacation) thought Bob's name was Tobert instead of Robert -Tobert was used throughout the wedding ceremony -amid much laughter .
Brian,in his calm manner (taught to him by my dear friend ,Marianne) ensured we experienced a Wedding to remember!

I just remembered another story of Bryan. He came to Bayfirld to visit and we sailed across Lake Huron on a 50 foot schooner. All was well until we started back and it became rough. Really rough. Bryan got seasick and lay on the stern deck under a wool blanket. A wave came aboard and swept the length of the boat washing the blanket off Bryan. I went back and covered him up with the wet blanket but it did not seem to make him feel any better. He said "Rob get this boat in and get me straight to the hospital We did get in and he felt a bit better .Seasickness is not usually fatal. After that he was not keen on sailing.
I very sad to hear of his passing but some of the memories make me laugh A terrific friend..

I met Bryan when we arrived at Ryerson in 1957. We have kept in touch through the years and I always enjoyed our phone conversations, mostly about Bryan's adventures. He taught me to sing the log drivers song with the valley accent.
"Yo ho heave ho, she's mighty long tow from Des Jaques to Chenaux". sing on Bryan.
My condolences to all the family.

I had the good fortune to know Bryan through St. John Chrysostom in Arnprior. He was a great guy. Always friendly, funny, and helpful, he was a good man. Everywhere Bryan went, he made that place better. His good works will continue to serve our community through the great children and grandchildren he raised. Bryan was a blessing to this earth, and he will be missed.

" Club 70 " Three Arnprior Catholic Boys Bryan Carroll, Dalton McCarthy and Bob Wall were friends from elementary school. They moved to Toronto to attend Ryerson and to work. They needed a place to live. Dalton met three Windsor Catholic Boys who needed a place to live;they teamed up and rented a 3 bedroom single family home at 70 Montclair Ave in trendy Forest Hill Village. This was 1959. They called it' " Club 70 " As the years passed some moved on others came.all friends of club members. The parties continued to be hosted new members came but the alumni always came back for the festivities often several times a year.They became a band of Brothers. After many years they gave up the lease but not the friends. So today many of that group, 5 of the originals and many more gather every other year for a "Club 70" re-union. Rest in Peace Gerry, George Al and now Bryan. Condolences to the Carroll Family.Heaven will never be the same.
