Dear Bert and family. I was deeply saddened when I saw the news that Maxine had passed. She and I had a great friendship years ago working for the Bell. I met her Mom and Dad and if course Bert and Lorna Rae and Brent. I was thrilled when I was invited to their 50th Anniversary but sadly I was unable to attend their 60th as I was out of town. I would have liked to give her one last hug. Sleep well Max.

Dear Bert, Lorna-Rae, Brent and Families,
I was saddened to read of Maxine's death this morning. I have many good memories of growing up on Joe Street in Stafford Township beside Bert and Maxine. Their immaculate yard - the grass always neatly trimmed and the flowerbeds well tended...swimming in their pool, playing in their basement, playing in Brent's backyard plywood "fort", Bert's well cultivated and bounteous garden, going with my Dad and Bert in Bert's old red truck to pick up firewood, Bert giving of his time and talents on the township council, the Brum's milk truck running in the driveway at noon hour when Bert would be home for lunch from his dairy runs, the sound of their pool pump in the summer months in the back yard, Lorna-Rae and Brent looking out for and after me... so many good memories of wonderful neighbours. Maxine was always happy, welcoming, generous and kind and she had a perpetual smile on her face and often a little giggle as she spoke to you. Come to think of it, Maxine was one of the few people that I have encountered in life who always seemed happy, content and positive. The world needs more Maxines! I was so pleased to read that Bert and Maxine have been enjoying their retirement years with their children and grandchildren. What a blessing these years must have been. Please know that I will pray for the repose of her soul and for the consolation of your family.

Heaven's gain is our loss. Aunt Maxine was a lady of such class that is all too rare in these times. She will be in many peoples' hearts forever.
